Working with Couples
I like getting to know my clients, learning your stories and helping identify the sources of conflict and pain. I work with couples in a direct and respectful manner to address your main concerns. Throughout the process, I will support, encourage, and challenge you to develop new tools and skills to help you connect on a deeper, more intimate level.
You, as a couple, have your own unique story. And each partner has a unique experience and story, as well. My approach is to first listen to each person’s story and to help each individual in the relationship to become the functional adult that they want and need to be in order to be relationally healthy. Then I help you as a couple to understand your relational patterns that might lead you to think, “I don’t know if I can do this anymore.” At that point, I work with you to teach you skills and techniques to break those patterns and facilitate the intimacy and connection that you are seeking.
I look forward to working with you and your partner to help change old patterns and move into a more connected, satisfying, and loving relationship.
Working with Other Relationships
My approach works well with couples who are seeking a more connected, satisfying relationship, but it is also extremely helpful to people who want to improve relationships of any kind.
If you find yourself in the same old fight with siblings or parents, or are having a difficult time relating to co-workers, friends, or other people in your life, these same tools and techniques can help you.
I have worked extensively with couples in many different situations — married or considering marriage, living together or just dating, separated or considering divorce. I also work with couples who are struggling with:
- Depression (in one or both partners)
- Trauma and PTSD
- Other relationship issues
